Listed below are courses that we have played and made a short report
on each course for selection.
Royal Evian
18 hole / Par 72 / 6006 metres
One of the most beautiful golf courses in Europe. Based at the foot
of the Alps on the south bank of Lac Leman, Royal Evian hosts the
female European Masters in June/July. A mature, challenging course
with mountain and lake views also with a fabulous restaurant and
pro shop.
Les Gets
18 hole / Par 70 / 5264 metres
The course we ski over! Set in wooded country side with exceptional
panoramic views of the Alps. The 14th hole is aptly named 'Mont
Blanc' as you feel you could just reach out and touch the snow capped
mountain. Chalet style club house with restaurant and sun terrace.
Villars
18 hole / Par 70 / 5288 metres
Based in Switzerland villars golf course was founded in 1922. The
course sits on a mountain 'shelf' facing the Alps and Mont Blanc,
a most imposing of settings. The club and pro shop has friendly
helpful staff and fantastic restaurant.
Chamonix
18 hole / Par 72 / 6076 metres
This course, set between the Mont Blanc range and the massif of
the Aiguilles Rouge was officially opened in 1935 and has been designed
by Robert Trent Jones Snr. Set just outside the busy ski and summer
resort of Chamonix.
Lausanne
18 hole / Par 74 / 6887 metres
This course was 'born' in 1921. Located at 850metres above sea level
it over looks the city of Lausanne. A tree lined course with fantastic
views of the Jura and Alps. In 1996 the course was renovated by
British architect Jeremy Pern, it is regarded as one of the most
beautiful courses in Switzerland.
Montreux
18 hole / Par 73 / 6720 metres
This course celebrated its centenary in September 2000. The course
sits in the base of the Rhone valley near to Lac Leman and as such
is one of the few flat courses in the area. Work in renovating the
course (by American architect Ronald Fream) started in 2004 and
is due for completion the end of June 2005. A modern and demanding
course Montreux will be!
