Châtel is one of the 12 resorts that join to make the Portes du Soleil, the largest linked ski area in the world. You can ski in France in the morning and Switzerland in the afternoon. Visit all 12 resorts including the picturesque Morzine, the quiet and peaceful Morgins with it's breath taking views of the Dents du Midi, Avoriaz which is purpose built to blend in with the mountain side on which it stands or the lesser known Champery and Les Crosets with their quiet, wide open ski runs. These totally unique resorts link together to form the P.D.S. with over 650kms of piste, 220 lifts, famous snow parks and 100's of fabulous slope side restaurants. To top it all you only use one lift pass and don't even need to take it out of your pocket!

Super Châtel

From Châtel village centre you can travel up to the varied ski area of Super Châtel which is a perfect spot for beginners as there are plenty of gentle nursery slopes. There are also great pistes for more experienced skiers and boarders, complete with a black button lift for very confident skiers and boarders! Super Châtel also has a fantastic board park with plenty of jumps for acrobatic boarders and skiers, a boarder cross track running through the forest and plenty of off piste play grounds for those famous powder days.

The best hosts possible

Kari and Gary, both keen skiers, have skied the Châtel and P.D.S. area for many years. They are both passionate about their skiing and snowboarding (Gary has gained NZSIA-stage 1 snowboard instructor qualifications) and they want you to enjoy your time spent in the P.D.S. to the full. They will happily accompany guests on days out, to help discover pastures new and show some of the secret spots in the area. Whether you want to find quiet cruising slopes or the most exhilarating skiing or boarding you can find, Kari and Gary will do their utmost to help!

Keeping in touch

At Alpine Retreat - Châtel we like to keep in touch. We have two way radios and a chalet mobile available for guests to use. Two way radios can be a great way of keeping in touch if you are out in 'split groups' even if just for making a rendezvous for lunch.
