The picturesque medieval port of Yvoire rests on the banks of Lac Leman, with its beautiful and informative public gardens, fabulous restaurants and clean lake water that you can swim in safely, it’s well worth a visit. Also on the edge of Lac Leman is Montreaux, a bustling Swiss city which hosts the world famous Montreaux Jazz festival in the month of June/July.

The ‘Chateau de Chillon’ made famous by the poem ‘the prisoner of Chillon’ written in 1816 by Lord Byron immortalised not only Francois Bouivard imprisoned there from 1530 to 1536 but this most beautiful of European castles, majestic on the shore of Lac Leman.

Lausanne is well worth a visit with its many art galleries and museum’s including the famous state of the art Olympic Museum open all year round. It tells of the evolution of sport and games and world history over the past century.

The historical town of Annecy is steeped in history dating back to 4000BC. Voted the most beautiful town in France it’s a definite must. Set on the shore of Lake Annecy you can enjoy guided walks of the ‘old town’ all year round, a boat trip on it’s breath taking lake, with cobbled back streets and flower covered bridges round every corner a day in Annecy is highly recommended.
